The River Krka
The source of the Krka River is at the base of the Dinaric
Mountains, 3.5 kilometers northeast of the town of Knin.
In order to get samples of Krka softmouth trout, we made a field trip to the river Krka, organized by our Croatian colleagues in April, 2003. We caught a lot of brown trout but no softmouth trout. We observed that when being chased, the softmouth trout behaved very much like grayling: they successfully avoided the electric field and withdrew from the "danger zone" into distant and deep pools of the river.
